Subject: [HUMNET-L] Salvia 'Silkes Dream'
Hello Humnet,
Do any of you grow Salvia 'Silke's
Dream'? This is a hybrid of S.
microphylla and S. darcyi. Apparently this plant has been around
for a
couple of years but I only recently heard about it. The parentage
suggests a long blooming, drought tolerant sage that certainly
should be
attractive to h-birds. If any of you have experience with this
plant
please let me know.

Subject: [HUMNET-L] Salvia 'Silkes Dream'
Hello Howard and Humnetters,
I just added Salvia 'Silke's
Dream' to my collection last fall. It was a
very small plant upon purchase but did flower once before the
flowers were
killed back during a freeze. Flowers are very lovely and relatively
large.
I didn't see hummers use it (but it only had a few flowers relative
to the
what was available in the rest of the yard), but I have high hopes
that it
will be a good one for hummers. The plant has looked great all
winter long,
despite temps to upper teens. I have it located in a raised,
pure sand bed.
