So close, but... : - )

I spent the weekend at my folks place about 90 miles NW of here. While
Taylar took her nap, I helped Mom clean out her hummingbird garden. Just as
we finished pulling some nasty weeds, we heard the distinctive wing whir of a
hummingbird! As we both jerked up and looked about like two maniacs, we
simultaneously said that magical word, "HUMMINGBIRD!"

After a thorough search of the feeders and usual perches, and as our hearts
began to settle down, we heard it again. This time, however, the sound came
from mom's dog who was lying on a piece of vinyl shade screen that was lying
on the lawn. The stupid dog has perfected the art of rubbing her nails
across the screen to perfectly reproduce the wing whir of a hummingbird.

I voted for immediate dismemberment, but Mom intervened. Oh well, it would
have been several weeks early, anyway.

Best,

--Stacy
