WORK EXPERIENCE

2005-2006 Coordinator, Louisiana Bird Resource Center,
LSU Museum of Natural Science                 
Responsibilities: Establish an organization to coordinate the academic, agency, and birding communities of Louisiana, collect and archive data for the birds of Louisiana. Develop and maintain website and other outreach materials. Recruit birders to implement Louisiana Bird Resource Center projects.

1997-1999, 2004 Biologist, The Institute for Bird Populations
Responsibilities:  Led intensive two-week training session for interns covering Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship project protocol, bird handling and safety, song identification, vegetative analysis, support/supervision of interns at multiple locations, and recruitment of local volunteers to participate in banding operations.

2003–2005 Biologist and Field Guide, Gibbons Ornithological
Responsibilities. Developed project proposals, project designs,  work was primarily shorebird surveys for environmental consulting firms.

 2000-2003 Project Manager, Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program
Responsibilities: management of regional colonial waterbird populations through management, monitoring, outreach, and research.  Progress was made in understanding long-term declines in several waterbird species.  A regional approach was applied with gulf-wide participation in colonial waterbird meetings. Organization and assistance for numerous avian surveys and studies along the Western Gulf of Mexico shores was performed for state and federal agencies. 

1999 Field Coordinator, Douglas Altshuler, University of Texas   
Responsibilities: Andean hummingbird project site searches, set-up, and volunteer training and supervision. Six locations were established for mist-netting and physiological trials.
