We've
used both Durphy and Pioneer Packaging; the last number I have for Pioneer is
(502) 639-9142 (1998). One of the sizes they provided, which might be of use, 3
3/4 x 3 3/4 x 3, deep enough for those single or 2 largish eggs.

As you
know I haven't been in the bizz for a while so I don't know about suppliers.
I would
advise staying away from hinged lid boxes. Even though the boxes don't get
opened all that frequently, and will receive extra care when they do, I'll bet
the hinges will fail all too soon. The most important reason though is that you
want to push a lid straight down on the eggs when you are boxing them. You
won't be able to do that with a hinged lid. Consider where the egg/s closest to
the hinge first contact the lid. The lid in this situation could act as 4 or 5
to 1 lever. Yipes! You could be subjecting them to
much more pressure that it you think. The situation will be even worse if the
hinges are sticky (usually the case). You will lose the all-important
sensitivity of "feel" when closing a lid. Further if the angle is
steep it will be very difficult to maintain the original arrangement, the eggs
will get pushed out of position.
How many
sets of this size do you need to box? If it's only few hundred, consider having
some custom made with acrylic. Better yet have someone there learn how to make them. A very quick search turned up this......
