I've had termites in a few potted salvias and got rid of them by sinking
the pot in water for a day or two. In at least one case I can recall the
infested plant recovered. I think that in other cases the plant died anyway
despite the termites leaving. This also works for fire ants. If the
termites are in an underground part of your plants int he ground, letting a
hose drip over the base of the plant for a few days might drive them away,
but I wouldn't go more than two days or so for fear of drowning the plant.

I have had termites kill abutilons in Baton Rouge.
