Proposal (760) to South American Classification Committee
Add Chlidonias
hybrida (Whiskered Tern) to the Main List
Effect on South American CL: This would add a species to the Main List.
Background: The species
has been recently recorded for the first time in Paraguay which also represents
the first record for South America:
An adult Whiskered Tern was photographed and
observed on 14 January 2016 by R.P.C., Holly Faithfull and Lloyd Stetson (Fig.
1G) at Estancia La Graciela, Misiones dept. Paraguay. The picture and notes
clearly match Chlidonias hybrida.
Recommendation: I would recommend a yes vote to
add this species to the South American checklist.
